As an engineering company, the Forschungsgesellschaft Umformtechnik mbH has been working especially in research of metal forming technology since its foundation in 1980 by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dr. hc. Lange. Due to the fact that there has traditionally existed a close cooperation and network together with the Institute of Metal Forming Technology of the University of Stuttgart and its director Univ. Prof. Liewald, our research in the area of metal forming technology represents the actual scientific state of the art. On the one hand, close contacts to the industry allow to further develop current results according to industrial needs, on the other hand, this enables to generate important stimuli for new research concepts. In the context of research cooperations, working groups and bilateral projects, our aim is the application of scientific research in the industry in a pre-competitive basis.
Our working fields in the area of sheet metal and bulk metal forming are the following:
- Modern Cutting Processes
- Forming Simulation and Material Characterisation
- Innovative Shearing
- Coaching & Consulting
Simulative feasibility studies, the development of simulative analysis criteria or the evidence of forming feasibility with prototype tools – specialised knowledge of the state of the art, efficient solutions and a great project experience are the key of success for our customers and are the reason why the FGU has been existing for more than 30 years.
