Material characterisation
Simulations require an increasing space in the modern development of new products. In order to predict the behaviour of these products correctly, not only an exact modelling of physical ratios is necessary, but also knowledge about the behaviour of used material. This can be described in the corresponding simulation programmes about individual parameters. Furthermore, the progressive digitalisation of modern production in the sense of “Industry 4.0” demands an exact knowledge of the component and hence its material properties.
By a categorisation and cataloguing of modern materials, the benefit of simulation programmes and digital applications can be intensively increased. At the FGU, there is the possibility to define the characteristic properties and parameters of a material and to check the manufacturer data by performing a great variety of different experiments.
Goal of the working group:
- Creation of validated material cards for the simulation of sheet metal forming
Investigation priorities:
- Characterisation of the available sheet metal material
- Processing for the simulation of sheet metal forming and creation of material cards
- Validation of the material card by means of a new validation tool
Target group and start of the new working groups:
- Small and medium-sized companies/Users of the simulation of sheet metal forming
- Expected start of the working group in March 2017
